Cyberpsychology seeks to understand the intersection between humans and technology. At its heart, its mission is to explore the digitally-connected human experience, in relation to how digital technology relates to our thoughts, feelings and behaviours.

I've worked in the area of cyberpsychology since I started my PhD on the topic of the psychology of videogames back in 2007. It's been wonderful to see how this field has developed and to see how its recognition has broadened considerably. A particularly intriguing example of how cyberpsychology's recognition is widening was a recent consultancy project I was invited to which specifically asked for the "Cyberpsychologist's report" as part a legal defense. Even the legal sector is interested in cyberpsychology!

For those who might be at the very start of their journey in cyberpsychology, I recently took part in a Subject Spotlight on cyberpsychology to help explain a bit about what cyberpsychology is, as well as specific topics such as; what do we mean by online behaviour and what do our digital footprints reveal about us?

If you or someone you know might be intrigued about cyberpsychology and its possibilities, you can access my cyberpsychology subject spotlight below. Enjoy!
